When basketball was introduced to Bradley University during the 1902-03 season, the team played its home games at the YMCA in downtown Peoria. The Braves have twice moved their home games to their hilltop campus -- Hewitt Gymnasium from 1909-24 and Robertson Memorial Fieldhouse from 1949-82 -- but returned to their roots by moving into the Peoria Civic Center’s Carver Arena in downtown Peoria in 1982.

The Peoria Civic Center has been the crown jewel of Peoria’s redeveloped downtown effort and has offered the citizens of Central Illinois high-class entertainment in a first-class facility. Offering 11,060 seats for basketball, Carver Arena is the centerpiece of the Peoria Civic Center complex, which just benefitted from a $50 million expansion and renovation.

In the 25 seasons since Bradley has called Carver Arena home, the Braves boast a 271-85 (.761) record on their home floor while routinely ranking among the nation’s top 50 in average home attendance. Bradley has attracted more than 9,000 fans per game for a Missouri Valley Conference best 13 consecutive seasons and the Braves drew an arena-record 165,376 fans to their 17 home games in 2006-07, including a single-game record 11,444 fans for the 88-67 rout of rival Illinois State Jan. 24, 2007.

Chicago (From the North)

Take I-55 South to I-74 West. Take Exit 94 in East Peoria. This fly-over ramp will take you up and over I-74 and connect you with the Bob Michel Bridge. Turn right to traverse the Bob Michel Bridge and continue into Peoria. Go straight ahead through three stoplights. Turn right at the fourth stoplight onto Monroe Street. Turn left at the first stoplight onto Fulton Street. Take a left into the Fulton parking lot. The Peoria Civic Center is located across the street from the parking lot at the intersection of Monroe and Fulton Streets.

Bloomington-Normal (From the East)

Take I-74 West to Exit 94 in East Peoria. This fly-over ramp will take you up and over I-74 and connect you with the Bob Michel Bridge. Take a right at the second stoplight onto Monroe Street. Take a right at the first stoplight onto Fulton Street and into the Fulton parking lot. The Peoria Civic Center is located across the street from the parking lot at the intersection of Monroe and Fulton Streets.
